Jakarta (20/11). The impact on global financial crisis is that commercial Banks such as Bank syariah Mandiri (BSM) increased its financing margin, the financing margin ranges around 15% to 17% at the beginning of November 2008, compare to the time before the crisis which was about 11% to 13%, the increment is about 30%. As explained by the division head of commercial financing of BSM, Gunawan Arif Hartono.
It meant that the global financial crisis has a bad implication for some Islamic Banks, since the purchasing power has declined as the result of income from production sector and trade is also declined.
The commercial financing is accessible for local businessmen, with the financing ceiling of IDR 2 billions to IDR 15 billions. This commercial financing is using the murabahah (sale-plus cost) and musyarakah (profit and loss-sharing) contracts. The murabahah contract is use for the working capital and farm equipment, while the musyarakah contract is use for investment in a join-venture.
"The financing is accessible at all BSM branch offices through out Indonesia" said Gunawan.(Nola/NIbra, www.pkesinteraktif.com)
