Jakarta (21/12)-The establishment of  Otoritas Jasa Keuangan (OJK)/Financial Service Authority will become a new era  for  Indonesia ‘s financial monitoring body. OJK will have a full responsibility in monitoring all financial institutions including Islamic financial institutions in which OJK and national shariah board or DSN-MUI will monitoring the Islamic financial institutions closely thru the shariah board in every Islamic financial institutions.

Micro Financing is Increasingly Popular in Indonesia

Jakarta, (15/11). Micro financing is now increasingly popular in Indonesian banking system. Some of the Indonesian banks are now establishing micro financing business unit. Micro financing is supported by the Indonesian government as well, by implementing the program Kredit Usaha Rakyat (KUR)/microfinancing for people in need.

No collateral required for micro financing under IDR 20

SOLO (15/5) the minister of economic Hatta Radjas, will be furious if there is a collateral requirement under the micro financing scheme for the amount of IDR 20 million, since the regulation stated that any micro financing facility provided for the amount under IDR 20 million do not subject to collateral requirement. It was explained by Hatta Radjasa, at the seminar of MEKM at UMS Solo.

Micro financing is one of the role model of the government assistance to the micro financing enterprises to expand its business. Micro financing will eliminate the bank ego to channel its financing distribution to the society. This system without collateral is the first system in the world that has been implemented by Indonesian Government.

In the meantime the performance of micro financing is quite significant for the year 2011, there are 12 Bank Pembangunan Daerah (BPD) that has involved in micro financing programs, as of May 01 2011, IDR 12.975 billion has been distributed as micro financing with customer base of 16.243. (Agus Y)
