Jakarta (4/8) based on the public awareness to contribute zakah/alms and a better management of zakah funds it is expected that the zakah funds rising will be increased every year. The chairman of  Forum Organisasi Zakat (FOZ), Ahmad Juweni has predicted that in 2011 zakah funds rising will reach the amount of IDR 1.8 trillion, from the previous year, IDR 1.5 trillion.

the increment is very realistic said  Ahmad Juweni, considering that most zakah organization is now have creative and strategic program” it is expected that those programs will increase the funds raising from zakah, “ explained ahmad Juweni during his speech at the IMZ Award 2011.

The rapid growth of zakah funds rising in Indonesia, has become the landmark for international zakah funds, which one of the reasons that Indonesia has become the home based of research centre of international zakah, which has been done by the world forum of international zakah.

In the meantime the Islamic finance expert, Mustofa Edwin Nasution, said that the potential of zakah in Indonesia is IDR 100 trillion, and in order to reach that amount it is necessary to synergies between the government and the zakah organization.

“If that amount is achieved it is very helpful to assist poverty eradication,” Exclaimed Mustofa. (Agus Y)
